Welcome to my professional and personal website!

It has been reorganized to reflect the many services that I am offering as a Humanist Officiant, Counsellor and Chaplain.   My services include counselling, marriage preparation and a creative, collaborative process for developing life passage ceremonies to mark the milestones that you consider significant in your life.  I encourage you to take a trip round the entire site and get acquainted with the range of services I provide.

Since my parents were freethinkers, my Humanist perspective is a ‘genetic’ inheritance. For that reason, I chose to train as a Humanist Officiant and subsequently, to provide chaplaincy services to the secular community at the University of Toronto.  So my services are particularly relevant to secular Humanists, freethinkers and individuals without affiliations who prefer a collaborative process for life passage ceremonies and a secular perspective for counselling services.  I also provide my services to the general public who may also be seeking a legal secular wedding ceremony or other secular services.

Humanist rites of passage provide alternatives to people who would otherwise have little recourse beyond religious affiliations or the sterile confines of a municipal building. By facilitating Humanist baby and child naming; weddings, vow renewals and divorce celebrations; funerals and memorial services, I encourage individuals to ‘humanize’ their ceremonies and become the ‘creators’ of their own rites of passage.  My role is to facilitate their design, ideas, and vision by providing guidance, resources, ideas, original writing and research when required and of course, by celebrating their ceremony at the appointed date and time.

Creating and celebrating meaningful, secular life passage ceremonies allows me to express my own creativity in the work of weaving together words and passages for a meaningful and memorable life passage ceremony.  The social interactions that are essential to the work are satisfying because they contribute to the well-being of all individuals concerned and to the celebration of human communities.
